Another photographer asked what I thought about my older work to which I replied “I hate everything! All I see is where I messed up!” Then I went and looked back at my beginning… the 30 shoots I did for free back in 2009/10. What I found were technically imperfect gems. I found several I still love in spite of their imperfections. Because of their imperfections.
The originals are tucked away in the garage on CD’s so these were downloaded off of my Facebook and uploaded again on here. I’m thinking I need to go get them and put some of these back up on the website. Just because.
What I learned from this Look Back is that art is a process. We all start from somewhere and where we started is just as important to where we are now. I actually found a lot more that I love still but I figured this was enough for now. You can see some more of my older work on my RedBubble page.
I’ve been photographing the world since 1993 in high school photography class. Started with a Pentax K1000 from the 70′s. But when I moved to digital in 2006 and then moved from landscapes and flowers to people I had a huge learning curve. One I’m still working on….
Along with silly logos from my first business name… She actually paid a very tiny fee for this shoot. $45, I think… haha!
Now… there were times when I totally just missed the mark… SHE is adorable! My photography/editing? Not so much! Selective color… odd focusing. What was I thinking? Hey, at least it was free….haha!
Mother of this baby girl approved of this. She is a friend.
